Florence Sellers
Florence “Betty” Sellers, age 93, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, in Hennis Care Center at Bolivar following a lengthy illness. A daughter of the late Clarence and Florence (North) Alexander, Betty was born September 25, 1932, at Elba, Ohio.
She worked in nursing for over 25 years at Nist Geriatric Center in Louisville. In August of 1971, she married William Sellers III, and together they enjoyed 47 years of marriage before his passing in 2018.
Betty was known for her baking skills, her passion for card games, animals, and crocheting. For many years, alongside her husband, they operated the Newcomerstown, Minerva, and Mineral City movie theaters.
Betty is survived by her children, Garry (Barbara) Martin of Mineral City and Marlene Miller of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Karry (Brett) Jones, Steven (Tana) Martin, Nicole Martin, Heather Bourquin, Staci Martin, Justin Martin, Jason (Jen) Miller and Andrea (Cory) Janson; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; son, Bob Martin; son-in-law, Chuck Miller; brother, James Alexander; and sisters, Doris Kaiser, Faye Limbacher, and Mary Lou Pitts.
In keeping with Betty’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A private graveside service will be held in the Dover Burial Park.
