Mary A. Peltz
Mary Ann Peltz, age 87, of Cadiz sadly passed away May 11, 2026 while residing at the Harrison County Home with her daughter by her side. She was born February 11, 1939, in Adena, Ohio, to John Henry and Helen (Konkoleski) Bednarski.
She was a loving housewife and devoted mother/daughter. When the coal mines started to slow down, she returned to Belmont College to earn her LPN license.
She worked at The Carriage Inn of Cadiz for 30 years where she was well respected and loved by coworkers and residents alike. She also belonged to the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary, as well as being an EMT.
Mary was an avid reader, loved to do crosswords, play games, and support the Cleveland Guardians and Notre Dame football team. She loved to take car rides with her husband with no destination in mind. What she truly loved, though, was to watch her kids and grandkids do the things they loved.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David “Govy” Peltz of 60 years, sister Patty Felgemaker, brother Richard Bednarski, and her loving companion Rosie.
She is survived by children Mark (Jenny) Peltz of Bellaire, Scott (Diane) Peltz of Cadiz, and Dana (Jeff) Takach of Cadiz, her grandchildren Paige (Donald) Writesel of Hopedale, Ethan (Kylie Gill) Peltz of Cadiz, Annie and Liv Takach of Cadiz, and Justin and Markiah Peltz of Heath and Bellaire respectively and great-grandchildren Adalee and Adason Writesel as well as her siblings Al (Bev) Bednarski of Lakewood, OH, Loretta Dalton and Phyllis Hager of Mentor, and Karen (John) Veracky of Bay Village, OH and many nieces & nephews.
The Family would like to thank Valley Hospice, Liza’s Place, and the Harrison County Home for the love and care they gave to Mary, and a very special thank you to Cassie Moore for everything she did while Mary was at Liza’s Place.
Per Mary’s wishes she will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in Mary’s name to Liza’s Place in Wheeling or the Harrison County Home in Cadiz. Condolences and fond memories may be shared at www.borkoskifuneral.com
