Valley Hospice receives $150,000 grant
The program aims to help patients feel better and cope with the stress of living with a serious illness while improving quality of life for patients and their families
Valley Hospice recently received a $150,000 anonymous grant to support its Caring Connections Palliative Care Program, allowing the organization to expand care and support for patients and families across the region.
“We are deeply grateful for this extraordinary gift. This $150,000 donation ensures that our growing community-based palliative care program can continue to meet the expanding needs of those we serve,” said Andrea Hale, Valley Hospice CEO. “Because of this generosity, more individuals and families in our community will have access to specialized care that focuses not just on managing serious illness, but on comfort, dignity and meaningful conversations about what matters most.”
Caring Connections Palliative Care is the area’s only in-home palliative care program. The program aims to help patients feel better and cope with the stress of living with a serious illness while improving quality of life for patients and their families. The palliative care team works to anticipate, prevent and relieve suffering related to serious illness or the side effects of treatment.
“As the first provider to bring this level of palliative care into our community, we see every day the difference it makes — relieving suffering, guiding families through difficult decisions, and helping people find peace in uncertain moments,” Hale said. “We are honored to carry this work forward and are eager to reach even more people who need support, compassion, and guidance in their goals of care. This anonymous donor’s kindness will touch countless lives, and for that, we are profoundly thankful.”
The grant will allow Caring Connections Palliative Care to hire an additional nurse practitioner, enabling the program to expand services for patients and families across the Ohio Valley.
