A mother's heart
Angela Chapman's poem reflects on the lasting bond between mothers and children
Mother’s Day flowers are in floral shops everywhere,
To be given to all mothers to show them love and care.
They may be in vases or gathered in a bunch.
Some children will give as they take their mamas to lunch.
The day is so special, for it commemorates a mother,
The one who held you in her arms, loving like no other.
A mother’s love goes on and on …
It’s a forever thing — an eternal bond.
A mother will go through thick and thin,
For her children she’s nestled in her heart within.
A mother will put herself last,
Without a thought of it being a task.
A mother’s love is unconditional,
Loving through hurt and crying dismal.
God gave mothers a special protective place,
To carry their babies in a perfectly made space.
The bonding that happens is so surreal,
God allows for women to literally feel.
A mother should be honored for her values of life,
Loving from the cradle to adulthood without a price.
Her children’s well-being is always on her mind.
She thinks of her children as one-of-a-kind.
Praying for her children is just as natural as can be,
Because a mother’s love is genuine and given freely.
A mother will always carry her precious children’s hearts with her forever,
And that is how far the distance between a mother and her children will be — never.
“Happy Mother’s Day in heaven, Mom,” and to all mothers in heaven and still here.
