Hiland rolls on diamond, dominates on court
Hawks cruise past Tusky Valley, sweep Knights
The Hiland baseball team rolled to a 14-3 five-inning win over Tusky Valley in Inter-Valley Conference play May 4.
Gerut Monigold went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Hawks. Grady Monigold (four RBIs, home run, two runs scored), Jonah Yoder, Andre Yoder and Isaiah Wagler (two RBIs, two runs scored) all had two hits. Christian Mullet and Carson Yoder both scored two runs.
Andre Yoder earned the win on the mound, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits over four innings with four strikeouts and three walks.
Boys tennis
Hiland cruised to a 5-0 win over West Holmes in NET action May 4.
Joel Leinbach won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles, Noah Troyer won 6-0, 6-0 at second singles, and Chase Coblentz won 6-0, 6-0 at third singles. The first doubles team of Clay Lehman and Quinn Mullet won 7-6, 6-3, while the second doubles team of Max Jones and Ryan Baird won 6-0, forfeit.
Ashland earned a 4-1 win over Hiland in NET play April 30.
The second doubles team of Jones and Baird won 6-2, 6-1.
