Heartland Technical Education Center board recognizes students

Meeting includes honors, staffing and tuition decisions

The Heartland Technical Education Center Board of Education recognized student achievements, approved policy updates and set upcoming events during its April 16 meeting.

The Heartland Technical Education Center Board of Education met April 16 in the board room at the Adult Education Center for its regular meeting.

The board recognized several students and achievements, including March Students of the Month Lucy Bailey, junior, health tech, Loudonville High School; Kaylee Spreng, senior, health tech, Loudonville High School; and Dylan Bland, adult education, electrical technologies. Heather Ritchie, adult education, phlebotomy technology, received the March attendance incentive.

Students with perfect attendance for the third nine-week grading period of the 2025-26 school year were also recognized, along with 2025-26 Secondary National Technical Honor Society inductees and second-year senior members.

Under the treasurer’s consent agenda, the board approved minutes from the March 19, 2026, organizational and regular board meeting and the March 30, 2026, special board meeting, as well as the February financial report.

The board discussed adult education and district building renovations with Superintendent Rodney Cheyney.

Under the superintendent’s consent agenda, the board approved preschool tuition for the 2026-27 school year at $75 per month for four days a week. The board also approved employment of certified and classified personnel as substitutes, including positions through Tri-County ESC for the 2025-26 school year.

Upcoming events include adult education graduation at 6 p.m. May at the Heartland Technical Education Center Commons, and senior farewell at 10 a.m. May 15 at Ashland University Convocation Center.

There were no committee reports, though board members provided updates from their respective home schools.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. May 21.
