Mohican Community Theatre will present “Into the Woods,” the musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, this summer at The Ohio Theatre.

“Into the Woods” intertwines classic fairy tale characters with themes of wishes, family, responsibility and consequence.

This summer’s cast includes a mix of returning performers and new faces. The cast features Jill Bauer, Ethan Bedocs, Daniel Caruthers, Charlotte Cerniglia, Laurie Cerniglia, Allie Chambers, Caleb Gibbs, Abby Hays, Schuyler Hollenbach, Bob Milnikel, Kristie Perreira, Andy Roblin, Emily Roblin, Nate Roblin, Nicole Shannon, Abigail Tayse, Chase Tennant and Bryan Tibbs.

The production is directed by Scott Pyle, who is making his directing debut with the theater after previously appearing in the comedy “The Play That Goes Wrong.” Pyle is joined by Assistant Director Emily Roblin.

The production team also includes Rachel Kelly as music director and Sally Hollenbach as technical director.

“'Into the Woods' is a show that challenges everyone involved — musically, emotionally and technically,” Roblin said. “But it’s also incredibly rewarding. We are thrilled to bring this meaningful story to our community with such a passionate and talented group of people.”

Performances will take place over two weekends: 7 p.m. Fridays, June 19 and 26; 7 p.m. Saturdays, June 20 and 27; and 2 p.m. Sundays, June 21 and 28. The Ohio Theatre is located at 156 N. Water St. in Loudonville.

Reserved seating tickets are $16 for adults, $13 for seniors and $11 for students age 5-18. Children under 4 will be admitted free if space allows. Tickets may be purchased online at The Ohio Theatre website at www.theohiotheatre.com.

While “Into the Woods” generally is considered PG-rated, audiences should be aware the production is a complex and often dark adaptation of classic fairy tales. The show contains themes of death, infidelity and moral ambiguity that may not be appropriate for younger children.
