Holmes library announces June events and programs
Programs include summer reading, storytimes, animal shows and book clubs
The Holmes County District Public Library will offer a variety of events and programs in June including the annual Summer Reading Program, storytimes, children’s activities, animal programs, outreach events and adult book clubs.
The library’s annual Summer Reading Program, “Unearth a Story,” will run June 1 through July 25. Kids, teens and adults are invited to register and track their reading for a chance to win prizes. Participants can stop by the East Branch Library or Holmes Central Library to join.
Storytimes at the Killbuck Library will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, June 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. Kids age 2-5 and their parents or caregivers are invited to hear stories, songs, rhymes and more. Registration is not required.
Outback Ray’s Amazing Animal Show will be held at the Holmes Central Library at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 2. Families are invited to attend the educational show featuring exotic animals. The show will be outside, weather permitting. Those attending should bring lawn chairs or blankets. Registration is not required.
Storytime at the Holmes Central Library will be held at 10:30 a.m. Fridays, June 5, 12 and 26. Kids age 2-5 and their parents or caregivers are invited to hear stories, songs, rhymes and more. Registration is not required.
Little Learners Playgroup at the Holmes Central Library will be held at 11 a.m. Fridays, June 5 and 26. Kids up to age 5 and their parents or caregivers can stop by for an hour of hands-on activities that help promote reading and social skills. Snacks will be provided. Registration is not required.
Unearth a Craft Makerspace will be held at the Holmes Central Library from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, June 9. Teens and tweens are invited for crafting. A large assortment of craft supplies will be provided including 3D printer pens, Perler beads, jewelry-making supplies, fabric art and more.
Bring the Farm to You Child’s Homestead will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 12. Families with children of all ages can comb wool, grind grain, roll dough, use washboards, play with rolling hoops and more to experience a childhood from the past. Registration is not required.
Paws to Read will be held at the Holmes Central Library from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 13. Children can stop by the children’s department and read to one of the Caring Therapy Canines. Registration is not required, and the program is first come, first served.
Dino Station will be held at the Holmes Central Library Wednesday, June 17. Youth up to age 12 and their families are invited to stop by anytime from 2-4 p.m. to explore the world of dinosaurs through a hands-on station presented by Mad Science of Northeast Ohio. Kids will get to make and take their own fossil.
Animal Adaptations will be held at the Holmes Central Library from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, June 24. Youth and their families are welcome to attend several interactive stations focusing on animal adaptations. The program is provided by The Wilderness Center.
Town-to-Town Tales will be held Thursday, June 25 at the Clark Community Center at 11:30 a.m. and Nashville Church of Christ at 1 p.m. The library’s outreach van will bring activities and stories to the communities.
The Adult Book Club at the Holmes Central Library will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 30 to discuss “North of Ordinary” by Sue Aikens. Books are available for pickup at the library help desk. New members are welcome.
