West Holmes FFA celebrates more accomplishments
The team finished 10th in dairy cattle judging at Ohio State ATI while members also placed ninth in the spring trap shoot at Sugarcreek Sportsman’s Club
On April 24 West Holmes FFA members competed at the state dairy cattle judging finals at Ohio State ATI. The team placed 10th in the state. Individually, Emma McDonnell was 24th, Reece Anderson was 27th, Jenna Zimmerly was 33rd and Reagan Mackey was 41st.
Contestants judged three classes of dairy cows and gave three sets of reasons for their placings. To qualify for finals, participants must be on either a top 10 team or place in the top 10 individually in the state preliminary contest, which was held April 1.
On April 18 the West Holmes FFA participated in the spring trap shoot at the Sugarcreek Sportsman’s Club. The spring trap shoot includes teams of five, and they take turns shooting at clay pigeons. Each contestant shoots a total of 50 targets with the score being how many targets they hit.
The team placed ninth. Individually, Deacon Clemens was the fourth overall shooter with a 44, Jack Jewell shot a 29 and Zander Croskey scored a 27. Thank you Sugarcreek Sportsman’s Club and Hiland FFA for organizing and hosting this event.
