Millersburg Village Council reviews projects
May 11 meeting includes updates on community improvements, events and short-term rental discussions
The Millersburg Village Council met in regular session May 11.
Council approved minutes from the April 13 meeting with a clarification that a previously referenced Fourth of July “committee” is an informal planning group rather than an official body. Members also approved more than $314,000 in combined bills and payroll across two resolutions following minor corrections.
Community events noted during the meeting include upcoming First Friday activities June 5, the Summer Concert Series at the Deer Run Amphitheater starting June 6 and the annual Thunder Over Holmes County celebration June 27.
Village Administrator Nathan Troyer provided updates on a wide range of ongoing projects, noting progress on items such as the EPA generator grant, installation of a new phone system and continued weekly mosquito spraying. Community improvements remain a focus, including preparations for lighting at Airport Park and a rescheduled mulch project on Clay Street parks in partnership with New Pointe Church.
Mayor Kelly Hoffee announced upcoming seasonal changes to the council meeting schedule and recommended the appointment of Ruth Waltman to both the Planning and Zoning Commission and Design Review Board, which council approved unanimously.
The Tree City Commission reported a successful Arbor Day event, where local students participated in tree planting and educational activities.
In legislative matters, council advanced a resolution adopting the Holmes County 2026 Hazard Mitigation Plan to a second reading.
During new business, the discussion centered on potential regulations for short-term rental properties, with council expressing interest in gathering public input and consulting the village solicitor.
The meeting concluded with adjournment and confirmation that the next regular council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. May 27 in council chambers.
