Hiland doubles duo ends tournament run at districts
Lehman and Mullet fall to East Liverpool in semifinals
Clay Lehman and Quinn Mullet competed for the Hiland boys tennis team at the Division II Dover District May 18 at Dover City Park.
The doubles duo fell 6-7 (9-11), 6-2, 6-2 to East Liverpool in the semifinals, ending its tournament run.
Lehman and Mullet finished as runner-up at the Div. II Dover Sectional May 15 at Dover City Park. The pair reached the title match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Cambridge before falling 6-3, 6-2 to St. Clairsville in the championship match.
Baseball
Hiland picked up a 3-1 win over Sandy Valley in Inter-Valley Conference play May 13.
Grady Monigold earned the win on the mound, allowing one unearned run on seven hits over six innings with six strikeouts and two walks. Damon Troyer tossed the final inning to pick up the save.
Michael Miller led the offense with two RBIs while Grady Monigold doubled.
Boys track and field
Hiland competed at the IVC Championships May 14 at Newcomerstown High School.
Bodie Gertz led the Hawks with a fifth-place finish in the 400 in 54.46.
Girls track and field
Hiland competed at the IVC Championships May 14 at Newcomerstown High School.
Myla Troyer paced the Hawks by finishing fourth in the high jump at 4-6 and tying for eighth in the 300 hurdles at 55.05.
