Garaway softball rolls past Buckeye Trail in district semifinals
Pirates follow sectional title with 16-run shutout victory
The Garaway softball team rolled to a 16-0 win over Buckeye Trail in a Division VI district semifinal May 19.
True Tango went 3-for-4 with six RBI and three runs scored to lead the way offensively, getting things started early with a two-run double that put the Pirates ahead for good. Her three-run home run in the third gave Garaway a 10-0 lead. Annabelle King tossed a shutout in the circle.
Garaway captured a sectional title with a 9-0 win over Shenandoah in a sectional final May 13.
King earned the win in the circle, striking out six. Kyleigh LaCroix had a double and a single, and Landri Miller tripled to pace the offense.
Baseball
AJ Miller gave Garaway every chance of winning, holding Fairless scoreless through five innings of their Div. V sectional final, but it wasn’t enough, as the Falcons struck for three late runs to send the Pirates tumbling out of the tournament in a 3-0 loss May 19.
Miller was sensational through the first five innings, striking out the side twice and recording 10 strikeouts, but Garaway’s bats never solved Fairless' pitching.
