The Carroll County Airport Authority was created with the following five men named to the board of trustees: Glenn L. Brenneman, Richard L. Hornberger, William LoPresti, Glenn C. Reed and attorney Paul F. Benson.
A design division entry by Mrs. Hugh E. Sweeney won both best of show and sweepstakes at the Carrollton Garden Club's 11th annual flower show.
The Housewives bowling team, sponsored by McFadden Insurance Agency of Carrollton, placed 15th among 58 teams entered in the Housewives Bowling Tournament held in Toledo. Team members included Jean Boley, captain; Elizabeth Eick, Bertha Shotwell, Lesta Long and Louise Dillard. They were accompanied by Virginia McConnell.

An infant-sized vault was placed in Westview Cemetery in observance of the nation's Bicentennial and is to be opened in 2076.
The six Carroll County 4-H Club members selected to attend the 59th annual Ohio 4-H Club Congress on The Ohio State University campus included Forest Thomas, Kathy Daniel, Ed Jones, Amy Rutledge, Donna Krantz and Patty Toot.
The Watheys Station building was moved on a tractor-trailer from its original location on County Road 14 in Augusta Township to the Algonquin Mill complex in Petersburg.
Rick Locke and Russ Leatherberry, both graduates of Carrollton High School and a senior and junior, respectively, at Malone College in Canton, were members of the record-breaking Malone baseball team.

Fred H. Barnett Sr. of Mechanicstown, who headed the Democratic Party in 1946, was elected chairman of the Carroll County Democratic Central and Executive Committee, succeeding Dewey E. Breckenridge of Malvern, who held the position for the previous 25 years and was named chairman emeritus.
Fred Wilson of Malvern was re-elected chairman of the Carroll County Republican Central and Executive Committee, and Mrs. John (Mary) Griffeth of Carrollton was reappointed county GOP chairwoman.
A beaver mount, owned by Joe DiGiancomo, a Kensington taxidermist, won first place in the World Taxidermy Competition held at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.

Dr. Jack Maffett, a Carrollton physician who retired Dec. 31, 1995, was honored and surprised at a belated retirement dinner held at Our Lady of Mercy Church Hall.
Third- and sixth-grade students at Sherrodsville Elementary School completed an extensive project on the history of Sherrodsville.
An Amsterdam man, Forest Buchanan, was the subject of a feature story in the June 20, 1996, issue of The FPS for his national acclaim as a naturalist, explorer and adventurer.
Elizabeth Parker of East Palestine was named Carrollton High School's new volleyball coach.

The recently completed Malvern Reed Street bridge was dedicated to the residents of Malvern during a June 10 ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Carroll County Agricultural Society met with Carroll County commissioners regarding the creation of a community center.
Work began on creating a new athletic practice field on Carrollton School District property off state Route 332, south of Carrollton.

Carroll County Airport Manager Al Jeske told Airport Authority board members that scholarships were available from the Mervin L. and Frances E. Tolson Scholarship Fund.
Susan Thompson was elected president of the Malvern High School National Honor Society.
Kevin Host, a highway technician at the Carroll County garage, won the Ohio Department of Transportation's district loader competition.
The South Range Local School District was chosen as the remaining district to join the newly formed Eastern Buckeye Conference.
