Program to explore Ohio’s first ladies at Carroll County District Library

The program will examine the lives and legacies of the first ladies of the United States who hailed from Ohio

Stephanie Bohnak, director of education and curatorial services for the National First Ladies Museum, will present a program titled Ohio's First Ladies at 6 p.m. June 23 at the Carroll County District Library, 70 Second St. NE, Carrollton.

The program will examine the lives and legacies of the first ladies of the United States who hailed from Ohio. Topics will include their roles as advocates for causes such as women's rights and education, as well as their influence as advisers to their presidential spouses.

The presentation will highlight the contributions of Florence Harding, , Lucy Hayes, Ida McKinley, Helen Taft, Anna Harrison and Caroline Harrison. From their early years in Ohio to their time in the White House, the program will explore their experiences, challenges and accomplishments.

Bohnak will discuss the impact Ohio's first ladies had on American history and the roles they played in shaping the nation.
