Minerva athletes earn spring EBC honors
Minerva coach Arin Rettig was named EBC Coach of the Year
Minerva’s boys track and field team captured its second straight Eastern Buckeye Conference championship this spring after previously going 45 years without a league title.
Rowen Hoffee helped lead the Lions and was named EBC Runner of the Year after earning first-team honors in the 1,600 and 800 and as part of the winning 4x800 relay. Minerva coach Arin Rettig was named EBC Coach of the Year.
On the baseball diamond, Braydon Wood became the first player in Minerva history to be named EBC Player of the Year. Wood also earned first-team honors.
Other baseball honorees included Brennan Barnes, second team; and Lane Tarbet and Kaden Kandel, honorable mention.
Softball honorees included Rachel Weaver, first team; Natalie Essick, Delaney Sell and Kylie Hannen, second team; and Adriana Kashdan and Gabby Kashdan, honorable mention.
Boys track and field first-team honorees included Owen Shick in the 100 and 200, Hoffee in the 1,600 and 800, Owen Yoder in the 3,200, Wyatt Gonzalez in the high jump and the 4x800 relay team of Yoder, Tyson Fetty, Anderson Scott and Hoffee.
Second-team honors went to Caden Stewart in the 110 hurdles and Yoder in the 1,600. Honorable mention went to Nate Linkous and Sam Blum.
Girls track and field first-team honorees included Tateum Richard in the 800 and the 4x800 relay team of Addison Keyser, Makenzie Beavers, Charlie Galley and Richard.
Second-team honors went to Carley Wolf in the 300 hurdles and Beavers in the 3,200. Honorable mention went to Gracie Momirov-Dierick and Autumn Thompson.
