Carrollton FFA recognized during state convention
Members receive gold ratings, chapter honored for top fruit sales
Members of the Carrollton FFA Chapter joined thousands of students from across the state during the 98th Ohio FFA State Convention held April 30-May 1 at the Ohio Expo Center.
Seventeen Carrollton FFA members attended the convention, participating in general sessions, exploring the career and trade show and listening to keynote speaker Brad Hurtig. Members also took part in recreational activities during the trip, including bowling at Polaris Mall.
Members attending the convention included Ellis Ujcich, Levi Dickerhoof, Alivia Gotschall, Kamryn George, Lilly Kruprzak, Kimmy Little, Bailey Little, Bailey Baker, Claire Eshler, Haley Leslie, Hunter Neininger, Kendall George, Clint Kruprzak, Myles Moore, Colten Rummel, Gwen Sargeant and Wyatt Fiddler.
Several Carrollton members received recognition during the convention.
Claire Eshler earned a gold-rated treasurer book award, while Kendall George received a gold-rated reporter book award for completing the chapter scrapbook. Gwen Sargeant also earned a gold rating for her chapter scrapbook.
Haley Leslie represented the chapter on stage as Carrollton FFA was recognized for participating in the Ohio FFA Chapter Trust Program, through which the chapter pledged $1,000 to help support Ohio FFA opportunities and future programming.
The chapter also received statewide recognition from the Florida Farm Bureau for being the No. 1 fruit-selling FFA chapter in the state of Ohio.
Advisor Ryan Borland said the statewide recognition reflects the continued support of the Carrollton community and the hard work of chapter members throughout the year.
“Our members put a lot of time and effort into the fruit sale, and the community continues to support us in a big way,” Borland said. “That support allows our chapter to provide more opportunities and experiences for students.”
