School is almost out. What will all those kids do now? If they are lucky, they just might get to cook with us for three days.

Youth age 8-12 are invited to roll up their sleeves and step into the kitchen this summer during Kids in the Kitchen, a hands-on cooking program offered by Ohio State University Extension. The three-day program will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday through Friday, June 10-12 or Tuesday through Thursday, June 16-18 in the Love Center's community room, 1291 Massillon Road, Millersburg.

Kids in the Kitchen is designed to build confidence and practical life skills through fun, interactive cooking experiences. Each day participants will work together to prepare one main dish, one side dish and one sweet dish while learning how to read recipes, practice kitchen safety, clean up properly and develop basic cooking techniques. Each year we try to expose kids to new foods and cooking skills.

Menu highlights include family-friendly favorites such as Sprinkletastic sugar cookie bars, cherry delight, spaghetti pie, mozzarella meatballs, cheesy bacon tots and Southwest tortellini pasta salad, with additional recipes planned.

The cost to attend is $30 per child, and space is limited to 15 youth per session. Registration is accepted on a first come, first served basis, and on-site registration will not be available. Any registrations received after sessions are full will be placed on a waitlist.

Registration and payment are due by June 2. Completed registration forms and payment can be mailed to 111 E. Jackson St., Millersburg, OH 44654. Checks should be made payable to OSU Extension, or payment may be made by card online at go.osu.edu/holmesextensionpayment.

Kids in the Kitchen is sponsored by Ohio State University Extension, part of the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Ohio State University, which provides educational programs on a nondiscriminatory basis.
