Ten Carrollton High School student directors were honored recently by Cleveland’s Playhouse Square through the Stay Gold Project.

According to Alzana Nuzzolillo, CHS arts director, the Stay Gold Project is an educational initiative inspired by “The Outsiders” that recognizes students who demonstrate empathy, authenticity, kindness and compassion — qualities that make a lasting impact both on and off the stage.

“As part of this special honor, our students were invited to attend a meet-and-greet with the cast of ‘The Outsiders’ and experience the Tony Award-winning production together.

“These student directors lead with heart every single day. They encourage others, create welcoming spaces, work tirelessly behind the scenes and remind us what theater is truly about: connection, understanding and community,” Nuzzolillo said.

“This year’s Carrollton Middle School production of ‘Pure Imagination,’ directed, written and choreographed by these student directors, brought more than 100 K-12 students to the stage,” Nuzzolillo said.

“We could not be prouder of this remarkable group of students and the example they set for others. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition — and thank you for continuing to ‘stay gold,’” she said.
