Mike Thurston
Faithful husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, Mike Thurston’s life did not end May 9, 2026, but merely marks the beginning of a new eternal life with his precious Jesus in heaven.
Mike was born Jan. 26, 1942, in Newport, Maine, to Ralph and Anita Thurston. His father died when he was 14, and his mother later married Don Hewins, who was a part of Mike’s life for more than 50 years.
Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for five years aboard the USS Wasp and USS Northampton as a radarman.
On July 5, 1963, Mike married Dianne James. He sold cars for 33 years and preached the gospel for 50 years. His passion was to win souls.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife; daughter, Doreen (Tom) Hudy; sons, Russell and Michael Thurston; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather and brother, Larry.
A graveside service will be held for Mike at East Springfield Cemetery on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Larry Deikmann officiating.
