Sherrodsville residents gather for evening of prayer
Annual National Day of Prayer includes music, pledges and local speakers
Residents gathered May 7 in Sherrodsville to observe the National Day of Prayer, joining communities across the country in a day dedicated to reflection and prayer.
The service featured a series of prayers led by local pastors and community members, each focusing on different areas impacting the community and nation.
Pastor Ken Ogg opened the service with a welcome and opening prayer. The program also included the Pledge of Allegiance, along with pledges to the Christian flag and the Bible.
Music was part of the evening as attendees joined in singing “In the Garden,” followed later by “Amazing Grace.”
A number of local individuals led prayers throughout the service. Kat Boone offered a prayer for students, followed by Laryssa Heavener for education. Laura Lingel led a prayer for families, while Jon Moreland prayed for the church.
Additional prayers were given by Wendy Parson for the military, Gary Baxter for government and Connie Jenkins for media. Dan Person offered a prayer for business.
John Campbell delivered closing remarks and a closing prayer to conclude the service.
The National Day of Prayer is observed annually across the United States and serves as a time for individuals and communities to come together in prayer for the nation and its leaders.
