Bell-Herron Foundation awards $116,000 in scholarships

Scholarships totaling $116,000 were awarded to 58 recipients during the annual Bell-Herron Scholarship Foundation awards program May 6 in the Carrollton High School Performing Arts Center.
Certificates of achievement also were awarded to two eighth-grade students, 111 outstanding academic students and 102 CHS most improved students during the 2025-26 school year.
Award recipients were introduced by CHS Principal Jason Eddy, and certificates of achievement were presented by Carrollton Schools Superintendent David Davis and Dr. Carl Fry, president of the Bell-Herron Foundation.
Outstanding eighth-grade certificates were presented by Carrollton Middle School Principal Craig Rodgers to Jacob Day and Addison Butler.
A musical selection was provided by the CHS Chamber Chorus under the direction of Mindy Domer, and congratulatory remarks were given by Davis and Fry.
“Tonight is a special night ... one of my favorite events of the year,” Davis said. “Over the course of the year, we have dozens of awards nights, banquets, assemblies, concerts and many other events. However, tonight we gather to recognize academic excellence."
Bell-Herron Scholarships, $2,000 each, were awarded to Ivy Bishop, Emma Brown, Tucker Burgett, Jenna Carman, Mackenzie Fry, Cadence Gbur, Aiden Green, Sway Groff, Beau Kinkade, Haley Leslie, Dominic Shockey and Brayden Yingling.
Jane Lytle Scholarships, $2,000 each, were awarded to Duval Citro, Bryce Hartong, Alexis Minard and Emma Shafer.
Dr. Glenn Dowell Scholarships, $2,000 each, were awarded to Lindsay Allender, Hunter Allison, Brayden Limbacher, Railey Macke and Isabella Nuzzolillo.
The Robert E. Buck Memorial Scholarship, $2,000, was awarded to Lily Marteney.
Steven Harter Leadership Scholarships, $2,000 each, were awarded to Kyleigh Adler, Hayden Berardinelli and Rylee Champion.
Earl and Marie Carlton Scholarships, $2,000 each, were awarded to Zara Bullock, Hannah Little, Ruby Moyer, Chelsea Pesta, Alli Reynolds, Kaylee Russell, Miranda Snyder and Kylie Ujcich.
Anderson Family Scholarships, $2,000 each, were awarded to Serenity Briggs, Allie Huffman, Isaac Husted and Logan Pridemore.
Phyllis Newell Music and Arts Scholarships, $2,000 each, were awarded to Violet Burkholder and Lucy Coppa.
The Mary Kean White Scholarship, $2,000, was awarded to Braelynn Roudebush.
The Denise Bowsher Scholarship, $2,000, was awarded to Anthony Girdlestone.
John H. and Evelyn L. Ashton Scholarships, $2,000 each, were awarded to Kyleigh Adler, Hunter Allison, Kearsten Ball, Zara Bullock, Mackenzie Fry, Bryce Hartong, Allie Huffman, Isaac Husted, Haley Leslie, Brayden Limbacher, Railey Macke, Lily Marteney, Ruby Moyer, Isabella Nuzzolillo, Madelyn Power, Miranda Snyder and Kylie Ujcich.
The Bell-Herron Scholarship Foundation was established in 1963 in honor of two former school superintendents, W.R. Bell, who served from 1912-47, and J. Wendell Herron, who served from 1947-63, for the purpose of encouraging achievement and providing financial assistance to students seeking advanced education and training.
Since its establishment, the foundation has invested $1,820,350 in providing post-high school training for 1,505 local and area young people within the Carrollton Exempted Village School District.
All scholarships are awarded to graduates of Carrollton High School. Contributions, memorials, class gifts or donations may be mailed to Bell-Herron Foundation Treasurer Kelli Pridemore, P.O. Box 123, Carrollton, OH 44615.
Other foundation officers are Davis, vice president; DiAnne Buck, secretary; and Pridemore, treasurer.
The Education Committee includes Cindy Thompson, chair; Renae Gross; Rick Truman; Craig Brooks; and Kelly Atkinson.
Refreshments were served following the program in the commons by the Social Committee, which included Pridemore, Buck and Belinda Mach.
