May Students of the Month chosen at CHS
As Students of the Month, both become eligible for a $500 scholarship provided by McFadden Insurance Co.
Students of the Month for May at Carrollton High School are Allie Huffman, daughter of Brandon and Heather Huffman of Carrollton, and Jayven Johnson, son of Angela Johnson of Carrollton.
The following are responses to questions submitted by The Free Press Standard to each of the students.
What extracurricular activities are you involved in both in and out of school?
Huffman: CHS Marching Band/Concert Band, CHS Danceline, sound board manager for CHS plays/musicals, National Honor Society and CES Mentoring.
Johnson: Basketball, football, and baseball.
Do you have any special hobbies?
Huffman: I really enjoy reading books, mostly mystery, thriller or fantasy.
Johnson: I like building Legos, watching movies, fishing, and playing video games.
Where do you plan to attend college?
Huffman: Kent State University at Stark.
Johnson: Walsh University.
What are your career plans?
Huffman: I plan to be an attorney, but I haven’t fully decided which field of law yet. I’m leaning toward either civil or family law.
Johnson: I plan on majoring in occupational therapy and playing football while in college.
What teacher, coach, family member or special friend has influenced you and why?
Huffman: My parents have been my biggest influence. Both of them have always demonstrated and promoted hard work and critical thinking skills.
Johnson: Someone who has influenced me the most in my life is my grandpa. This is because he is always determined to make sure our family is safe and in good hands. He also still works to provide for us.
What advice can you give for success in life?
Huffman: Avoid procrastination and always put your full effort into everything you do.
Johnson: Try your hardest, be yourself, and don’t care what others think.
As Students of the Month, both become eligible for a $500 scholarship provided by McFadden Insurance Co. to one boy and one girl at the conclusion of the 2024-25 school year. The two seniors who are selected by the staff will have their pictures displayed in the commons at CHS.
