Personnel contracts approved by Minerva Board of Education
The next meeting was set for Monday, May 18, at 6 p.m. in the administrative office
Several personnel contracts were approved by the Minerva Local Board of Education at its April meeting, including administrative, certified, classified and supplemental matters.
Administrative contracts approved were for Josh Morckel, Minerva Middle School principal, with a base salary of $107,163, and David Hudson, Minerva Middle School assistant principal, at a salary of $102,348.
Certified contracts approved included one-year limited contracts for Nadia Gray, Kamryn Bondoni, Jacob Cruz-Perez, Peyton Detling, Natalie Hinkle, Maggie Masl, Mason Middleton, Kayla Pitts, Zachery Slates, Kenneth Beaumariage, Kelsi Hulit, Dale Dickson, Heidi Troyer, Heidi Truxall and Mackenzie Scott.
Three-year limited contracts were approved for Abagail Seruch, Sophia Blake, Logan Coe, Cheyenne Heath, Tyler Stewart and Maggie Zifer.
Five-year limited contracts were approved for Frederick Bigham, Jacob Eberling, Sheri Jarvis, Derrick Maxey, Amy Pierson, Kellyn Richeson, Jenna Sweitzer, Sara Wallace and Athena Butcher.
Continuing certified contracts were approved for Ashley Bartley and Christine.
Classified contracts approved included one-year limited contracts for Frank Douglas, Laura Keith and Charles VanCamp.
First two-year limited contracts were approved for Sarah Host, Ronald Jones, William Keith, Wendy Kocher, Shirley Pitts, Roseanna Roach and Julie Walker.
Second two-year limited contracts were approved for James Anderson, Sherry Cooper, Nichole Crawford, Ray Davis, Samantha Gonzales, David Grimm, Todd Hall, Suzanne Keller, Julie Mattox and Joseph Thompson.
Third two-year limited contracts were approved for Heather Bryan, David Duffy, Aliah Imler, Megan Keyser, Dustie Kubankin, Lola Lucas, Mary McConnaughy, Brian McIntyre, James Morgan, Eric Nickell, Devin Schoeppner, Sammy Southers, Melissa Spall, Wanda Watkins and Emily Winter.
Continuing classified contracts were approved for Tracy Boord, Hayley Gallina and Douglas Speakman.
The board also approved Garth Evans as a volunteer softball coach.
In other business, the board approved the retirement of Valerie Slation, high school science teacher, and accepted the resignations of Scott Cassidy, curriculum director, and Bryan Mahaffey, high school science teacher.
Alyssa Montgomery was approved as a tutor.
Approved for nonrenewal were Laura Bauman, Robert Carle, Lily Jones, Celsea Oberly, Julia Persinger, Scott Russell and Josie Vanicek, all MES tutors.
Approved to attend sixth-grade camp were Nicole Chaddock, Brian Costea, Johnney Johnson, Sean Kocher, Rebecca Kovach, Jason Lutz, Ben Miller, Scott Russell, Maggie Zifer and Stephanie Jozwiakowski, volunteer.
Approved for employment as bus drivers were Frank Lutes, Larry Pottorf and Gary Chaddock.
Approved classified staff to attend sixth-grade camp were LeeAnn Lindenbaum, volunteer, and Ashley Lutz.
Approved as classified substitutes for the 2025-26 school year were Alyssa Kiko, Cheyenne Myers and Destiny Weisenburger.
The board approved a list of 139 graduating seniors for the Class of 2026 and the early release of the senior class, with graduation practice set for May 13, baccalaureate scheduled for May 13 and graduation Thursday, May 14.
The board approved disposal of school bus No. 21 and the purchase of a 65-passenger lift bus for 2027 from Hill International Trucks through the Stark County bus purchase program at an estimated cost of $134,492.
Expenditures for March totaling $2,494,042.82 were approved.
Superintendent Mark Scott reported on the Minerva High School Class of 2026 Top Ten Percent Students and Honored Educators, the annual FFA banquet involving more than 100 students in FFA programs, attendance at the Northeast Senate League administrative meeting at Tusky Valley, state testing, Minerva High School fine arts students taking over the Minerva Art Spot with student artwork on display, and a district safety meeting attended by board members Robert Yeagley and Susan Crawford.
Scott also congratulated Megan Lynn, recipient of a Franklin B. Walter Scholarship, and Minerva High School juniors and seniors who participated in the Supreme Court of Ohio’s Off-Site Court program held at Carrollton High School.
The next meeting was set for Monday, May 18, at 6 p.m. in the administrative office.
