Beginning June 15, a four-way stop will be implemented at the intersection of state Route 171 and Avalon Road, County Road 20, west of New Harrisburg.
The new four-way stop is part of the Ohio Department of Transportation's effort to improve safety at select intersections statewide by converting standard two-way stop intersections to all-way stops.

According to ODOT, 77 intersections statewide were evaluated and selected for conversion to all-way stops, with implementation occurring over the next two years.

The Carroll County all-way stop at state Route 171 and Avalon Road, located 3.5 miles west of state Route 43, is among three all-way stops planned in eastern Ohio.
The other two are at state Route 558 and state Route 164 in Columbiana County, south of Leetonia, and state Route 515 and County Road 168 in Holmes County, located three miles north of Walnut Creek.
Area all-way stops already completed include the intersection of state routes 151 and 212 in Bowerston, Harrison County, and the intersection of state routes 93 and 516 in Dundee, Tuscarawas County.
