St. James School to offer free meals through federal program
St. James School will provide free breakfasts and lunches to all students during the 2026-27 school year
St. James School will provide free breakfasts and lunches to all students during the 2026-27 school year through the federal Community Eligibility Provision program.
School officials announced the change in meal policy, noting that participation in the program eliminates the need to collect applications for free, reduced-price and paid meals. The program is designed to reduce administrative burdens for families and school officials while helping ensure students receive nutritious meals.
The school also noted that families with children eligible for school meals may qualify for free health care coverage through Medicaid and Ohio's Healthy Start and Healthy Families programs.
Benefits available through the programs include coverage for doctor visits, immunizations, prescriptions, dental care, vision care, mental health services and substance abuse treatment.
For more information, contact Tina Welch at St. James School, 400 W. Lisbon St., Waynesburg, or call 330-866-9556.
