James Conley was elected commander of the local Fighting McCook Post 3301, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Arthur Theil of Fremont, formerly music supervisor and band director at Carrollton High School for eight years, accepted the position of assistant professor of music and director of bands at Florence State College in Florence, Alabama.

Two cadets from Carrollton who were attending Ohio State University — Wayne L. Lash and George L. Place Jr. — were attending Reserve Officer Training Corps summer camp at Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania.

A trophy was presented by Carrollton Schools Superintendent John Beck to Bill Wrikeman — a graduating senior who had 12 years of perfect attendance — at Carrollton High School’s 94th annual commencement exercises.

A Bicentennial memorial program was held in Dellroy that included the dedication of the Monroe Township Community Park and Veterans Memorial, a gazebo housing the bell from the old Dellroy school building and a flagpole.
An essay written by Lee Rutledge, a junior at Carrollton High School, won first place in the Ohio WCTU writing contest on the evils of drug misuse.
Larry Wood was named the most valuable player of Carrollton’s 1976 track team.

The Rev. Rodney J. Buchanan, pastor of Carrollton First United Methodist Church, told members of Carrollton High School’s 211-member graduating class, “Today’s graduates can make a difference,” at the school’s baccalaureate service.
Speeches were given at Carrollton High School’s commencement exercises by Bryan Wilking, Jennifer Anderson, Amy Clark and Abby Lumley.
Malvern’s Kristen Larke and Springfield’s Becky Twaddle earned trips to the state track meet.

Carrollton High School’s Class of 1996 had the distinction of graduating three sets of twins. They included April and Autumn Day, Mark and Philip Grimm, and Sheri and Sheryl Robinson.
Carrollton Council hired Robert Ellington as a full-time police officer, along with Michael Fry and Scott Carrel as part-time officers.
Carroll County commissioners agreed to purchase the former Society Bank building on Public Square for $75,000.
Todd Davis succeeded his father, John Davis, as director of the Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum, a position held by the elder Davis since 1968.
Picking up special awards at the 1996 Carrollton baseball banquet were Louis Ritchie, Devin Pitts, Dave Purdy, Adam Arbogast and Craig Brooks.

Carrollton High School’s delegates to the 2006 Buckeye Boys State included Zach Adams, Ben Pozderac, Joe Silecchia and Sperry Silecchia.
JoAnn Wagner, program technician for the Carrollton Farm Service Agency, was recognized for 20 years of service.
The Carrollton 3,200-meter relay team, comprised of senior Nick Castellucci, juniors Brandon Lucas and Jon Naylor, and sophomore Ethan Naylor, placed 10th at the state meet, where Ethan Naylor ran to a 14th-place finish in a grueling 1,600-meter event.

Six-year-old Kaiden Foxx was pictured on the front-page saluting after placing a bouquet of flowers and a flag at Augusta Cemetery in memory of his father, Sgt. Dillon B. Foxx.
Carrollton High School graduates with distinction included Elizabeth Domer, Anna Truman, Savanna Sullivan, Owen Kienzle, Brock Albaugh, Ali Poole, Autumn Beamer, Maddie Birong, Kady Davis and Ashley Luyster.
The Carrollton Lady Warriors won the regional title, advancing to state competition.
The Minerva Lions girls and boys track teams placed 18th and 24th, respectively, in regional competition.
