Carrollton seniors honored at awards assembly
Members of Carrollton High School’s Class of 2026 were recognized for academic, extracurricular and athletic achievements
Members of Carrollton High School’s Class of 2026 were recognized for academic, extracurricular and athletic achievements during a senior awards assembly held May 15 in the CHS gym.
The program, attended by parents and families of the senior class, opened with “The Star-Spangled Banner” and the CHS alma mater performed by the CHS Chamber Chorus. Awards were announced by CHS Principal Jason Eddy, with certificates and plaques presented by Carrollton Schools Superintendent David Davis and Assistant Superintendent Andrew Reeves. Eddy also offered personal remarks and congratulations to the 153 graduating seniors at the close of the ceremony.
Among the top honors presented were recognition of Lily Marteney as valedictorian and Anthony Girdlestone as salutatorian. Marteney also received the Franklin B. Walter Award and was among the students earning ACT composite scores of 30 or higher.
Students recognized as Graduates with Distinction included Hunter Allison, Casen Mitchell, Gabryella Ferren, Anthony Girdlestone, Railey Macke, Lily Marteney, Haviv Moreira, Alli Reynolds and Haley Thomas.
Railey Macke and Isaac Husted were named Outstanding Monthly Seniors, while Ferren received recognition as the Most Outstanding Vocational Student.
Several athletic honors also were presented. Kaylee Russell was recognized as the 2024 individual state champion in bowling after earning 17 varsity letters and 11 EBC Scholar-Athlete awards. Haley Thomas and Hunter Allison received Ohio High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete awards, while Kylie Ujcich and Isaac Husted received Archie Griffin Sportsmanship awards. Braelynn Roudebush and Haley Leslie earned the OHSAA Courageous Student Award, and Jimmy Reynolds received the State Award for Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity.
Special music honors included the John Philip Sousa Award presented to Railey Macke and CHS Director’s Awards presented to Emma Arquilla and Miranda Snyder. Isabella Nuzzolillo received the CHS Noteworthy of Distinction Award, while Macke also earned the Director’s Award for Chorus.
Anthony Girdlestone and Dominic Shockey were recognized for Academic Challenge participation. Haley Leslie was honored for five years in FFA, while Hannah Little, Logan Pridemore and Ava Sivets were recognized for four years of involvement.
Students honored for ACT scores of 30 or higher included Hunter Allison, Serenity Briggs, Violet Burkholder, Anthony Girdlestone, Bryce Hartong, Allie Huffman, Bella Kakascik, Railey Macke, Branden Marshall, Lily Marteney, Ruby Moyer, Logan Pridemore, Alli Reynolds, Dominic Shockey and Brayden Yingling.
Dozens of seniors also were recognized through the Academic Hall of Fame, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, academic honors diplomas and career-tech honors diplomas.
Branden Marshall was recognized as the senior entering military service and will join the United States Marine Corps.
