Carrollton wasted no time dismantling Indian Valley in its Division IV East District 2 sectional final May 12.

The Warriors rolled past the Braves 16-2 in five innings behind a 10-run fourth inning.

Breeanna Arquilla went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored, while Paityn Crank drove in three runs. Addie Turkovich added two RBIs, and Reagan Schneiders scored twice, drove in three runs and scattered three hits over five innings.

Carrollton finished the week 13-14 and remained alive in postseason play.

Baseball

Carrollton baseball spent the week pitching shutouts and running wild on the bases.

The Warriors opened with a 6-0 win over Tusky Valley May 11 behind a dominant outing from Caden Husted. Carrollton also stole 12 bases.

The Warriors broke through in the third inning, manufacturing runs with a Brayden Swearingen single, an Isaac Husted sacrifice fly and a Jace Witham hit-by-pitch.

Isaac Husted drove in two runs, while Swearingen, Jayven Johnson and Husted each had hits. Cooper Haun, Hunter Allison and Swearingen each stole multiple bases.

On May 15, the Warriors hosted Poland Seminary and produced another shutout, earning a 5-0 victory behind Isaac Husted’s complete game. Husted allowed five hits and did not walk a batter.

Carrollton took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run double by Allison and a Poland Seminary error.

Allison and Witham each drove in two runs, while Witham finished with two hits. Allison also stole three bases.

Carrollton finished the week 16-9.

Track and field

Carrollton joined the rest of the Eastern Buckeye Conference at Salem for the EBC Championships, where both the boys and girls teams finished sixth overall.

For the girls, Emma Shafer placed fifth in the 100-meter dash, while Kalye Kiko finished sixth in the 100 hurdles. Carrollton’s strongest performances came in the relays, where the Warriors finished second in both the 4x100 and 4x200. The 4x100 team finished in 51.60 seconds, while the 4x200 team crossed in 1:49.43.

On the boys side, Landyn Winkler placed fifth in the 800, while Killian Sweeney finished fourth in the 110 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles. Cam Witts placed fifth in both hurdle events.

Carrollton’s relay teams also scored across the board. The Warriors placed fourth in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, while the 4x400 and 4x800 teams each finished fifth.
