Carroll County commissioners received an update on ongoing
improvements at the county annex building during their June 1 meeting, with
Commissioner Donald Leggett II outlining several projects still underway before
additional offices move into the facility.
Leggett said county officials are awaiting a quote from Silco Fire and Security for panic buttons to be installed throughout the building. Once received,
the proposal will be presented to the county security committee for approval
and funding.
He also reported that electrical upgrades inside the annex
have been completed, but officials are still waiting for American Electric
Power to install a utility pole and transformer needed to provide adequate
service to the building.
“The inside of the building, all the updates on the power
have been done,” Leggett said. “We’re just waiting on the new pole with the
transformer.”
Leggett said the work is important to ensure sufficient
power is available before the Board of Elections relocates to the annex.
He also reported county officials are addressing a drainage
issue involving a pipe running from the Job and Family Services kitchen to a
drain near the Board of Elections area. Additional paving work is also pending
as the county awaits an estimate from a contractor.
Commissioners also reminded residents of a major Ohio
Department of Transportation road project that began June 1.
According to information shared by Clerk Melissa Schaar, state Route 39 is closed from state Route 524 in Mechanicstown to the
Carroll-Columbiana county line west of Salineville for a major pavement
rehabilitation project. Traffic is being detoured via state Route 524 and state
Route 164, with the project expected to continue through Sept. 30.
Schaar also noted that chip-sealing work is underway on state Route 164 from Bergholz through Carroll County to Salineville. Traffic
will be maintained with flaggers, and that project also is expected to be
completed by Sept. 30.
In other business, commissioners:

Family Services and Belmont Pines Hospital effective May 1 through April
30, 2027, with a maximum payment amount of $150,000.
