New chairman leads Carroll County Democratic Party

The Carroll County Democratic Central and Executive Committee has a new chairman who has represented the Orange Township precinct on the Democratic Committee since 2008.

Dave Devey of Carrollton, director/owner of Falcon Camp on Leesville Lake, succeeds Tom Postlethwait, who served as party chairman since 2022.

Other party officers are Janice Marciniak of Sherrodsville, vice chairwoman, who moved to Carroll County in 2006; Paula Puch of Carrollton, secretary; and Linda Farmer of Malvern, treasurer.

Devey said he has been involved in politics for more than 50 years and has served on the Carroll County Democratic Central Committee since 2008.

“I’m looking forward to finding common ground on issues that affect Carroll County and help make our county continue to be a wonderful place for people to live,” he said.

The vice chairwoman is a practicing pharmacist, avid sailor and reader.

“I started dipping my toe into politics about 10 years ago when I decided just complaining about things wasn't enough.

“I became involved with our local Democratic Party in 2021 when I was appointed as precinct chair for Monroe Township and am still excited to fight for good change that will bring equal freedom to all citizens,” Marciniak said.

The new chairman, precinct committee officers and precinct Central Committee members were elected at the May 5 primary election to four-year terms.

Monthly meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Carroll County District Library, 70 Second St. NE, Carrollton.

Upcoming events include a chicken barbecue Aug. 22 and operation of the Carroll County Fair booth July 20-28.

Democratic Central Committee members elected from the county's precincts include Terri Ossler, Augusta Township; Linda Lee Farmer, Brown Township B; Ronald W. Mayle Sr., Brown Township C; Ray Morgenstern, Mohawk; Paula S. Puch, Center Township; Mary Ann Bryan, East Township; Bruce Carlton, Fox Township; Valerie Gardner, Leavittsville; Janice B. Marciniak, Monroe Township; David W. Devey, Orange Township; Jan H. Kennedy, Rose Township; and Thomas Postlethwait, Union Township. Vacant precincts include Malvern, Minerva, Brown Township A, Carrollton A, Carrollton B, Harrison A, Harrison B, Lee, Loudon, Perry and Washington.
