Road will be open for Fox Twp. homecoming

Good news for Fox Township Homecoming attendees — state Route 39 in Mechanicstown will be open to traffic traveling to the homecoming grounds June 19-20.

Ohio Department of Transportation officials informed homecoming organizers of the accommodation despite the 75-day closure of state Route 39 between Mechanicstown and Salineville.

The annual Fox Township Homecoming, which attracts large crowds each year during the two-day event, will begin with a parade at 6 p.m. June 19. The parade will start on the west side of town and proceed east to the upper drive into the park.

Prizes will be awarded in 11 parade categories ranging from $5 to $15. Judging categories include best-appearing truck 1,250 gallons and over, best-appearing truck under 1,000 gallons, best-appearing brush truck, longest distance traveled, best renovated antique car, best-appearing tanker, best-appearing walking unit, judge's choice, best-decorated bicycle, best renovated tractor and oldest fire truck.

Tractor pulls and a food stand will be featured both days.
