He was born Sept. 4, 1936, in Bloomingdale, to Frederick and Margaret (Newburn) Howell.

Harold graduated from Carrollton High School in 1952. He worked at Alliance Drop Forge for more than 20 years and later as a custodian for Regal Metal Co. Harold was a member of Augusta Christian Church, the Jaycees, Odd Fellows and Eagles. He enjoyed woodworking and camping.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Howell, whom he married Jan. 7, 1995; children, Marla S. (Mark) Berkley, Cheryl (Chris) Davis, Todd L. (Kelly) Howell and Tricia (Dave) Hippley; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Darrel and Dale Howell; sisters-in-law, Linda Howell and Barb Cargill; brother-in-law, Mark Cargill; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Martha; second wife, Margaret; brothers, Galen, Frederick, Mark and Charles; and sister, Carol.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 25, at Centreville Village, 1082 Kensington Road NE, Carrollton, from 1 to 3 p.m.
