Thomas Lee Patterson
Thomas Lee “Tom” Patterson, 85, of West Lafayette passed away at his home with his family by his side on Friday May 15, 2026.
Tom was born in Coshocton on December 16, 1940, to the late John E. and Mary Ann (Stonebrook) Patterson. He graduated from West Lafayette High School in the class of 1958 and proudly served in the United States Navy for four years where he was stationed on the Franklin D. Rosevelt for three years. Tom worked as an Outside Plant Engineer for eighteen years for Ohio Bell/AT&T.
He enjoyed working at home in his yard, helping his friends and neighbors with small projects, tending to his flowers, tinkering in his garage, feeding the birds and squirrels. Tom loved attending antique tractor shows, restoring his own antique tractors, antiquing, and refinishing old antiques. He treasured spending time with his family, and his furry companions Porky, Freckles, Ginger, and Smokey.
Tom was a member of the Bible Fellowship Church, one of the founding members of the Massey Harris Ferguson Tractor Club of Ohio and Coshocton, West Lafayette Masonic Lodge #602, and the Scottish Rite of Cambridge.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Lee (Jennings) Patterson for the past 64 years; they were married December 20, 1961; two daughters, Amy (Matt) Skarke and Melissa (Leroy) Bethel both of Coshocton; grandchildren, Sunni (Brian) Howell, Davey (Alan) Garber-Reeder, Kevin (Brooke) Bethel, Kyle (Karlie) Bethel, Kasey (Sierra) Bethel, Garrett (Kimberly) Bethel; great-grandchildren, Titan Elson, Reid, Zachary, Brady Howell, Amelia, Grant, Delilah, Aurora, Beau and Romee Bethel; siblings, Pat Blickensderfer of West Lafayette, Doris Mellor of West Lafayette, Susan Patterson of West Lafayette, Chester (Margaret) Patterson of High Springs, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, John, Earl, Keith, Charles ‘Jack”, Max, Larry, and William Patterson; two sisters, Ellen Pickrell and Marjorie Lorenz.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton, on Thursday May 21, 2026, from 11a.m. to 1p.m. where masonic services will begin at 1p.m. followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor Dan Eggan. Interment will follow in Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette with Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard performing military honors.
