Museum sets summer program for children
The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum in Coshocton will host weekly hands-on anthropology sessions May 29 through July 3 for age 3-12
Anthropology is the scientific study of humankind, examining cultures, societies and behaviors across time and place. Through the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum 2026 summer children's program, discover how people long ago used natural materials to create baskets, pottery, cloth and more.
Through hands-on activities like weaving, painting symbols and crafting, kids will explore how humans lived, created and shared their stories across time. Join the group from 10-11 a.m. every Friday from May 29 through July 3.
This summer program is geared toward children age 3-5 and 6-12. Admission is $6 per child ($1 per week per child). Families will be allowed to explore the museum after each session. Space is limited, and reservations are required. Register by visiting www.jhmuseum.org/summer, calling 740-622-8710 or visiting the museum.
Make It Like the Past is presented in conjunction with the Coshocton Public Library, Clary Gardens, Historic Roscoe Village and the Pomerene Center for the Arts through the Unearth a Story program. Summer programming will be offered throughout the months of June and July at each location.
Make It Like the Past is supported by the Charles E. and Dorothy S. Bechtol Fund and The Ohio Arts Council. The OAC is a state agency that funds and supports arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically.
The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is in Historic Roscoe Village at 300 N. Whitewoman St. in Coshocton. Museum hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and all Sundays are free admission to Coshocton County residents.
