Coshocton Junior Woman’s Club strives to help community
Club is accepting funding requests for 2026 projects through Feb. 28
The Coshocton Junior Woman's Club is accepting applications at this time for help with projects in 2026.
The club makes financial contributions every year to local organizations that directly serve citizens of Coshocton County. Requests should include a brief description of the project, the number of people who will benefit, a time table, total estimated budget, the amount requested (no greater than $500), and the organization and contact information including address, phone and email.
The Junior Woman's Club is a nonprofit service organization and a social club.
"We try to mix fun with our social service work," President Amy Crown said. "We have a social committee where we try to do one or two things on the social end. It may be going to a play at Triple Locks Theater or a trivia night at Wooly Pig. We raise money through our dues and social projects, and we have a giving committee to support local organizations, maybe the library, Clary Gardens or United Way. We have made a lot of donations throughout the years within distribution committee guidelines."
Usually, they give $3,000-$5,000 back to the community yearly.
"We are having a membership mix and mingle, invitation only, on Monday, Feb. 16," Crown said. "Reach out to any active member if you are interested in joining. We have 43 active members, 15 associate members and 10 honorary members. Once you have been in the club for 10 years, you can become an associate member. Most of our associates are very active in the club. We are a social club."
The club meets monthly September through May at a luncheon where they generally have an educational speaker. On the service end, the ladies volunteer as a group for many activities going on in the community.
"We do the dog festival, the rake project where we rake people's leaves. We collect for Toys for Tots; support Chestnut Crossing, helping to fill the needs for their after-school programs with prizes, snacks, cleaning supplies; and we help with their summer party," Crown said. "We always participate in the scarecrow competition, and this year we decorated a Christmas tree for the Festival of Trees at the Moose. We are really interested in influencing responsibility, women helping women, that kind of thing."
Help requests through a letter format should be emailed to juniorwomansclub@yahoo.com and must be received by Saturday, Feb. 28.
