Cardinal Chorale plans 30th anniversary concert
The free June 14 performance at Coshocton High School will bring 100 alumni from six states back to the group’s longtime home base
The Cardinal Chorale will hold a special 30th anniversary celebration concert entitled Love Will Be Our Guide at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 14 at Coshocton High School. The is free to attend and open to the public.
Founded in 1995 by conductor Charles R. Snyder, The Cardinal Chorale is a select traveling ensemble of high school and college singers. Since its founding, the chorale has welcomed more than 700 singers across the state of Ohio over the past 30 years.
In the summer of 1998, the chorale shared its musical magic on a concert tour of England, France and Wales. The chorale has sung for five Ohio Music Education Association Professional Development Conferences and twice for the Ohio Choral Directors Association.
The 30th anniversary celebration will feature 100 alumni traveling from six different states: California, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio.
The celebration is an extension of the 30th edition’s annual summer tour, also entitled Love Will Be Our Guide. The summer tour concludes every year at Roscoe United Methodist Church, and will take place June 8-12. Other tour stops include: Marion, Columbus, New Concord, and Newark.
Musical highlights from the concert include: "Sixteen Tons," "I Am Your Child," "Battle Hymn of the Republic," "This Is My Father’s World," and "The Nearness of You."
The chorale chose to hold the reunion in Coshocton this year to honor the area they have called “home-base” for 30 years.
