Coshocton lands $1 million tree grant
The USDA-funded project will plant, remove and inventory trees in low- to moderate-income areas over the next three years
In 2025 the City of Coshocton received a Forest Service Grant through the United States Department of Agriculture. The purpose of the grant involves planting, inventorying, cutting down diseased trees and stump removals in the LMI areas of the city. Every city that applied wrote their own grant as the number of trees to be planted. Coshocton’s grant was approved in the amount of $1 million.
Locally, the Coshocton Tree Commission is involved with this project as well as City of Coshocton. The local project coordinator is Connie Miller, member of the tree commission. Leonard Dolce has been retained/hired as arborist consultant, and the Ohio Regional Development Corporation will administer the grant.
The city plans to plant the trees over the next three years. It will take planning, coordination and cooperation, not only for the city and tree commission, but also for anyone interested in helping to beautify and improve the sites around Coshocton. As part of the grant, there will be a tree planting training session for those wanting to help.
More details about this project will be coming. For more information email Miller through City Hall at connie.miller@cityofcoshocton.com.
