Anyssa Cutlip signs with Shawnee State
The Ridgewood right side hitter signed her letter of intent May 17 at Kids America after years of high school and club volleyball
Right side hitter Anyssa Cutlip committed to continue her volleyball career at Shawnee State University. She signed her letter of intent May 17 while surrounded by family and friends at Kids America.
Cutlip has played volleyball for Ridgewood High School since fifth grade and for six years at Kids America.
“I love the competitiveness of volleyball and getting to meet new people,” she said.
Cutlip has enjoyed playing with her teams and especially working with her Kids America coach Jen Bickel.
“My daughter just transferred to Shawnee State too, so I’m super excited to see them play together,” Bickel said. “Anyssa is hardworking, dedicated, aggressive and will bring a high level of leadership.”
Bickel has trained Cutlip for six years and coached her for three years at Kids America.
“It’s nice to see her rewarded for her hard work and go to the next level,” Bickel said. “This is very exciting for her.”
Anyssa is the daughter of Curtis and Christie Cutlip, who are both very proud of their daughter.
“We knew volleyball was her sport,” Curtis Cutlip said. “She dedicated herself to it and gave up a lot of her summer for it.”
Christie Cutlip said, “From the time she first touched a volleyball, we knew nothing was going to stop her.”
They also both like that Shawnee State is a small campus and the volleyball coach is nice.
“I loved the community feel there and the energy of the coach and team,” Anyssa Cutlip said.
She plans to major in physical therapy and encourages her teammates to keep chasing their goals.
“Always believe in yourself,” Anyssa Cutlip said.
