Chuck Ellis wins Coshocton commissioner primary
Ellis led the Republican race with 2,593 votes, defeating Dean Hettinger and Chuck Selders in the May 5 election
On Election Day, voters selected a new commissioner to join the county office.
In the Republican county commissioner race, 2,593 voters selected Chuck Ellis. Dean Hettinger earned 1,473 votes, and Chuck Selders had 798 votes.
“I was blessed to have a great team of campaign supporters who worked hard on delivering our message to the county,” Ellis said. “So I’m grateful for all the hours they put into the campaign. Additionally, I met some very good folks as we attended meetings and visited door-to-door and interacted with small businesses. I am excited to learn the details of how local government works and believe that my past work experience will be helpful as we address current problems and look ahead to helping Coshocton County grow and prosper.”
Hettinger thanked his supporters and wished Ellis the best of luck in his new journey.
“I want to sincerely thank everyone who supported me and our campaign,” he said. “I’ve been truly humbled by the kindness, encouragement and support shown throughout this journey. From the people who opened their doors for conversations to those who volunteered their time, shared a post, put up a sign or simply offered a kind word and prayer, thank you. This campaign gave me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people across Coshocton County, and I’m grateful for every conversation and every connection that was made along the way.
"While this wasn’t the outcome we had hoped for, I respect the decision of the voters and want to congratulate Chuck Ellis on his victory. I know he will work hard for this community and the future of Coshocton County.”
Selders also had a message for his supporters.
“I just want to thank everyone for your support throughout this entire campaign,” he said. “I love you all, and I will never give up on Coshocton County. I'm going to make known to everyone right now I will be running again in two years. God bless you all and again thank you.”
