Ridgewood names March Student of the Month recipients
Astrid Ely, Madelyn Klier, Carter Osborne, Parker Moore and Jensen Cunningham were honored at Ridgewood High School
Ridgewood High School honored its March Student of the Month recipients.
The eighth grade honoree was Astrid Ely. She was recognized for her hard work as a student and her ability to inspire the trust and respect of her peers. She participates in many activities including band, choir, drama and track. She said she is looking forward to joining soccer.
Ely is the daughter of Kevin and Jael Malenke. One piece of advice she would give to other students: “Focus on doing your best; it doesn't have to be perfect.”
She would like to thank her dad for encouraging her to do track. Some day she hopes to become an elementary school teacher.
The ninth-grader who was honored was Madelyn Klier. She was recognized for her responsibility and preparedness.
Klier is the daughter of Ashley and Joe Klier. At school she is involved in soccer, track and Foreign Language Club. Outside of school she is involved in Arsenal Club Soccer.
She said she is looking forward to getting her academic letter this year. Her advice to other students: “Be yourself.”
She would like to thank her friends and family for coming to games. Her future plans include going to college to major in biology and to become an orthodontist.
The sophomore honoree was Carter Osborne. He is being recognized for his responsibility and thoughtfulness. With his many commitments, he manages his time to complete assignments while also supporting projects through Ag. In addition, he cares for others and is quick to show concern for the well-being of his peers.
Junior Parker Moore was recognized for his pleasant personality and willingness to help. He consistently goes above and beyond what is asked of him and shows a genuine desire to help others.
Parker is the son of Tiffany McConnell. He attends the Coshocton County Career Center. He said he is looking forward to summer vacation but that he loves how nice the teachers are at Ridgewood. His advise to other students: “Don’t make yourself stressed to the point of giving up.”
He would like to thank his mom for helping him when he feels stressed out. His future plans include joining a branch of the military.
Senior Jensen Cunningham was recognized for his commitment to service and dedication to his activities. He demonstrated leadership during the blood drive, the "Addams Family" musical public relations campaign, TI and the Performing Arts fundraisers.
His parents are Ashton and Zane Cunningham. At school he is involved in drama, marching band, Syntax Error, jazz band, Dynamic Chorale, Foreign Language Club, Teen Institute, National Honor Society and pep band. Outside of school he is involved in The Cardinal Chorale and works for the Roscoe Village Foundation.
Cunningham said he is looking forward to graduation but that he loves the efficient learning environment at Ridgewood. The advice he would give to other students: “Do not be afraid to try new things. Try it out.”
Cunningham would like to thank the Ridgewood School Board for encouraging students to be involved in all activities, for supporting all departments and being present for all students' accomplishments.
Cunningham will attend the University of Wisconsin to major in environmental science and minor in philanthropy and international relations.
