Petty Officer 2nd Class Carter Coffman, a native of Coshocton, recently was named the 2025 Sailor of the Year while serving at Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center in Norfolk.

Sailor of the Year is awarded to sailors who demonstrate outstanding service or performance. Coffman has served in the Navy for six years. Today, Coffman serves as a logistics specialist.

“Being selected as Sailor of the Year for 2025 is an incredible honor,” Coffman said. “It shows me that the hard work, dedication and commitment I brought to the mission truly matter. I'm proud to set the standard for my peers and to be someone my junior sailors can look to for guidance. This recognition motivates me to keep growing as a leader and continue making a positive impact every day.”

With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across America.

According to Navy officials, NAVSUP FLC Norfolk is the Navy’s oldest and largest fleet logistics center, providing global supply and logistics support for the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Joint and Allied forces from the Norfolk waterfront for nearly a century.
