Sandra Kaye Layman
Sandra Kaye (Cox) Layman, age 86, of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026. She was born February 5, 1940, to the late Harry Leander and Daisy (McClain) Cox in Coshocton.
On December 27, 1955, Sandra married the love of her life, Orland Reo Layman Jr., who survives. She was a devoted wife and mother whose warmth and care shaped the lives of those around her. In addition to creating a loving home for her family, Sandra also worked as a school cook at Keene and with Edmont Manufacturing Company.
Sandra was a longtime member of the Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church. She was also a woman of many skills, and enjoyed reading, quilting, gardening, cooking, and baking, especially cookies. Sandra also loved traveling with her husband and collecting antiques, pursuits that brought her great joy throughout her life. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family, especially caring for and making memories with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 70 years, Orland Layman Jr.; her children, Douglas David (Paula) Layman of Fresno, Diana Kaye (Ed) Hart of Newcomerstown, Susan Joan (Mike) Turner of Coshocton, and Jeffrey Ray (Kristi) Layman of Newcomerstown; her grandchildren, Tiffany (Carlos) Elliott, Amber Larntz, Jacob Roth, Joanna Furr, Samantha (Derrick) Seibert, Mackenzie (Chad) Ryan, Ayla (Shane) Zerbe, Autumn Dickerson, and Adam (Maureen) Turner; 15 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Beverly Brillhart of Coshocton; and her brothers-in-law, Bob Haas of Coshocton and Don Layman of Strasburg, alongside several nieces and nephews, and host of other family, friends, and loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her great-grandson, Cyrus Larntz; and her siblings, Delma Burt, Harry Cox, Bob Cox, Jeanne Albertson Wheeler, Becky Haas, Gordon Cox, and Nancy (Stanley) Underwood.
Calling hours will be held at the Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor John Bramley officiating. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
