Cathy Kobel
Catherine “Cathy” Kobel, a cherished soul known for her boundless generosity and vibrant spirit, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, at Oak Pointe Nursing Home, in Baltic.
Born on April 17, 1944, in Nelsonville, Ohio, Cathy’s life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and community.
A proud graduate of Nelsonville York High School, class of 1962, Cathy continued her education by earning a two-year business degree from Columbus State. Her career was marked by her diligent years of service at Jones Metal in West Lafayette, where she retired after years of committed work. She was proud of her leadership role as head of the Relay for Life team at Jones Metal, exemplifying her passion for making a difference.
Cathy was always vibrant and active, embodying the spirit of “always doing something.” Her generous heart was known far and wide; she would readily give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. She valued her time deeply with family and friends and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren. It was rare for Cathy to miss any of their sporting events, reflecting her unwavering support and love.
Cathy loved gathering with friends at the Janusian Club of West Lafayette and enjoyed the laughter and camaraderie of the card club she attended on Saturday nights. Known for her baking, especially her cakes, she delighted in sharing these homemade treats.
Cathy is survived by her son, Bryan (Machiel) Carroll of West Lafayette; grandchildren Blake (Mikala) Carroll, Chase Carroll, Andrew (Erinn) Getchey, Morgan (Dub) Carroll and Kayla Kobel; great-grandchildren, Holland, Brycen, Laiklynn, and Bailey, who brought additional light to her life; brother, Roger McDaniel of Nelsonville.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lester “Jim” Kobel who passed away on February 11, 2025; her parents, Clyde and Lavina McDaniel; stepson Jason Kobel; sisters Louise Zook and Sue Stewart; brother Paul McDaniel; niece Robin Williams, and sister-in-law Charlotte McDaniel.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main Street, Coshocton, Ohio, Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Kraft officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette.
