This will be the fifth year of the Street Dance Series — newly named the Kathleen O’Shea Street Dance Series in recognition of support from the John D. O’Shea and Kathleen E. O’Shea Fund at the Coshocton Foundation.

The summer dances have become a signature artPARK tradition, offering free, high‑quality music and community dancing in a central Main Street location that is accessible to all. Each event is a joyful, multigenerational gathering. Families with young children, teens on bicycles, and older adults who prefer to watch from their cars all take part.

Research continues to affirm what the community experiences firsthand: social dancing builds connection, reduces stress, and lifts the spirit. The series embraces the playful wisdom of its adopted Molière motto: “All the ills of mankind… have arisen merely from a lack of skill at dancing.”

Kathleen O’Shea, remembered as an educator and dancer, embodied this joyful belief in the power of movement and live performance. Naming the series in her honor is a meaningful tribute to her legacy. A formal dedication will take place on Friday, June 12 during a performance by The Wayfarers.

Festivities begin at 7 p.m. with free dance lessons led by Tim Cohen, followed by live music at 8 p.m. Guests can enjoy Wooly Pig beer on tap for $5 and snacks hot off the wood‑fired grill offered for a donation.

The artPARK is located at 325 Main St. in Coshocton. The theme for Friday, June 26 is Salsa with music by Yumbambe, Friday, July 10 is Funk with music by Willie Nelson Mandela, and Friday, July 24 is swing with the Lake Park Big Band.
