Michael J. Uhl
Michael J. “Mike” Uhl, 82, of Millersburg, Ohio, passed away Wednesday April 29, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster, following a period of declining health.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 5 at Alexander Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Ryder officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg.
Friends could call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 4 at the funeral home, with Masonic Services beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. John’s Church of Walnut Creek, PO Box 125, Walnut Creek, Ohio or Holmes County Historical Society, PO Box 126, Millersburg, Ohio.
Mike was born March 13, 1944, in Millersburg, Ohio, and was the son of the late Elmer and Margaret (Cummings) Uhl. He was a graduate of Millersburg High School Class of 1962. Mike married Gwen Kaser on June 26, 1976, and she survives.
He worked for the Ohio Department of Taxation and later served as the treasurer for West Holmes Local School District until his retirement in 2004. During his retirement he drove as courier for the Commercial and Savings Bank.
Mike was deeply involved in his community, he was a member of the Free Masons Spartan Lounge #126 in Millersburg, he also was a member of the Millersburg Rotary Club, Sons of the American Legion Post #192 where he served as a past Commander.
Mike placed flags on Holmes County Veterans graves at Oak Hill and Nashville Cemeteries every year. He also served as treasurer and board member of the Holmes County Historical Society and Millersburg Council for two terms.
He was a member of the St. John’s Church of Walnut Creek. Mike was an avid golfer, he and Gwen enjoyed taking bus trips and traveling to the Lafayette Hotel in Marietta where they made many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gwen; his sister-in-law Sandy (Malcolm) Miller; nephews Jeremy and Lucas Miller; nieces Trisha (Seth) Clark and Jolene (Brian) Taggart; sister-in-law Rhonda (Dave) Toole; niece Alyssia (Andrew) Hoslar; nephew Mark (Emily) Toole; niece Cindy (Dave) Benson; niece Jane (Tony) DalPra; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Tom and Ann Uhl.
