Randy J. Stackhouse Sr., 72, passed away peacefully April 2, 2026, at Aultman Hospital, surrounded by his family following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 13, 1953, in Martins Ferry to the late Robert L. and Bernice H. Stackhouse. He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob and Terry Stackhouse.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth “Liz” Stackhouse, whom he married Nov. 24, 1972; two children, Trisha (Eric) Stillion and Randy (Kelly) Stackhouse Jr.; and four grandchildren, Taylor (Joshua) Kasler, Mason Stackhouse, Alli Stackhouse and Joshua Stillion.
Stackhouse was a 1971 graduate of Carrollton High School and a 1974 graduate of the Stark County Police Academy. He grew up farming, learning the value of hard work at an early age, and carried that work ethic throughout his life, from stocking shelves at A&P as a newlywed to eventually owning his own business.
He served as a Carroll County sheriff’s deputy for 12 years, beginning as a dispatcher in 1974 and later becoming a sergeant under Sheriff Dean Yeager. He later worked as a rollback driver for Fox Auto and as service manager for Kohler’s in Carrollton. He and his wife later purchased Kohler’s Service and operated R&L Auto for 22 years before retiring in 2023.
An avid World War II enthusiast, he had deep respect for those who served in the military and was honored to serve as president of the Carrollton Vets Club for two years.
Stackhouse enjoyed working on small-block Chevrolet vehicles, including collecting, repairing and detailing cars, as well as drag racing. He took pride in keeping his vehicles and workspace in meticulous condition.
He also enjoyed mowing his lawn, spending time outdoors and being with his dogs, Ridge and Panzer. Known for his outgoing personality, he enjoyed social gatherings with family and friends and had a reputation for his sense of humor and larger-than-life presence.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 11 a.m. in Dodds Funeral Home in Carrollton.
Burial followed in New Scott Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Following the funeral, the procession passed by his home to allow family and friends to pay their respects.
