David William Harsh
David William Harsh, 67, of Boardman, passed away unexpectedly March 8, 2026.
Born Aug. 10, 1958, David was the son of Paul David Harsh and Nancy (Furbee) Harsh. He attended Carrollton High School and entered the workforce to support his young family. He worked at Smith’s Nursery in his early years. He also worked in maintenance alongside his father, brother and nephew at Ponderosa Park in Salem during its heyday.
He was a truck driver for various companies over the years, including R&L Carriers and, most recently, Higgs Trucking of Niles, from which he retired after eight years. Never one to be idle, David used his skills and knowledge to take on small maintenance, woodworking and building projects. He was the resident handyman for his apartment complex and also lent his services to several people throughout his community.
David enjoyed golf and especially liked camping and fishing at his friend Joe’s lake. He was loved by many and will be missed by many more.
David is survived by his mother, Nancy Harsh of Carrollton; best friend, Deborah Dean of Boardman; daughters, Leslie (Tim) Smith of Malvern, Brooke (Noah) Cohen of Salt Lake City and Cassandra (Sam) Kooyman of Austintown; four grandchildren; sister, Beth (Harold) Cain of Dellroy; brother, Scott Harsh of Dellroy; sister, Tracey Harsh of Mogadore; nephew, Kristofer Eick of Virginia; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul David Harsh; grandparents, Homer and Jennie Marie Harsh and William and Louise Furbee; Uncle Bud Furbee; Aunt Val and Uncle Bob Gallon; Uncle Bob Harsh; Aunt Polly Stewart Noble; and great-nephew Isaiah Meek.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Our Lady of Mercy Social Hall, 618 Roswell Road NW, Carrollton, at the corner of Moody Avenue and state Route 39. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., with a short service at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon. Per his wishes, David’s ashes will find their final resting place in the Laurel Mountains of West Virginia.
Arrangements were handled by Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home of Carrollton.
