West Holmes track teams compete at Triway Invitational

Girls take sixth, boys eighth in 11-team field

Mallory Marmet has been on fire this season for the Lady Knights. At the Triway Invitational, Marmet finished third in the shot put with a toss of 35-5 while throwing 107-10 in the discus.

The West Holmes girls track and field team finished sixth out of 11 teams at the Triway Invitational April 24.

Katherine Kaster led WH by finishing second in the 1600 in 5:19.67 and second in the 3200 in 11:51.19. She also anchored the 4x400 relay team to a seventh-place finish in 4:32.90, joining Breslyn Brown, Alizah Sigler and Chelsie Cooper.

Iriel Mena finished second in the 800 in 2:26.60 as Brown finished fifth in a personal-record time of 2:28.53. Mallory Marmet finished third in the shot put with an outdoors best toss of 35-5 while throwing 107-10 in the discus. Sophie Arnold placed fourth in the 3200 in a PR of 12:30.98. Sigler finished sixth in the 400 in 1:06.31. The 4x800 relay of Arnold, Ellie Babitt, Cooper and Serenity McClintock finished sixth.

Boys track & field

West Holmes placed eighth out of 11 teams at the Triway Invitational April 24.

Maddax Graham led the Knights, winning the shot put with a personal-best toss of 53-5 and winning the discus with a throw of 156-7. Rhett Chaney finished second in the long jump with a mark of 20-8. Chaney also led off the 4x200 relay that finished second in a PR of 1:33.27 and included Marshall Yoder, Cody Gallion and Mac Craft. Yoder finished sixth in the 300 hurdles in a PR of 42.44; Craft finished tied for seventh in the 200; the 4x800 relay of Cole Troyer, Owen Mallasch, Jimmy Wengerd and Parker Garver finished sixth; the 4x100 relay of Brayden Parsons, Brady Carter, Gallion and Craft finished seventh in a PR of 47.05; and the 4x400 relay of Yoder, Troyer, Wengerd and Garver finished eighth.

Softball

Madison rolled to an 11-1 win over West Holmes in Ohio Cardinal Conference action April 28.

Briar Cline paced WH with an RBI.

West Holmes pulled out a 14-13 win over Wooster in an OCC battle April 27.

Gabby Fowler (home run) and Zoe Walter led the Knights with three hits each. Fowler also earned the win in the circle, surrendering 13 hits and 12 runs (eight earned) over 6 2/3 innings, striking out six and walking three.

Zalina Proper and Emma Miller both collected two hits. Proper also walked twice.

Clear Fork defeated West Holmes 15-5 in nonleague play April 25.

Fowler led WH with two RBIs, while Mari Patterson slashed two hits.

West Holmes fell 15-5 to Clear Fork in a nonconference clash April 24.

Miller paced the Knights with four RBIs and a home run. Cline also homered.
