Free canner gauge testing set in Coshocton
OSU Extension will offer dial gauge checks at the Bakersville Market June 5 and the Coshocton Farmers Market June 27
Coshocton County OSU Extension is providing free pressure canner dial gauge testing at community farmers markets in June. Emily Marrison, family and consumer sciences educator, will be at the Bakersville Market from 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 5. She also will be at the Coshocton Farmers Market from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 27 in the Roscoe Village Visitors Center parking lot.
Pressure canner gauges should be tested for accuracy each year. Over time as the canner lid is handled, bumped and used, the calibration of a dial gauge can become inaccurate. Only the canner lid is needed for testing. Canners using weighted gauges do not require calibration.
Free home food preservation and nutrition information is always available through OSU Extension. Call Marrison at 740-622-2265 with any questions or to schedule a canner testing appointment at the office.
