Eick secures commissioner nomination in Carroll County
Voters approve township fire levies; 4,091 ballots cast in May 5 primary
Carroll County voters selected Ron Eick as their next county commissioner in the May 5 primary election, with Eick defeating Donald E. Leggett II 1,529 to 1,296 to secure the Republican nomination and position himself to take office next year, while voters in two townships approved fire levies.
A total of 4,091 ballots were cast in the election, including 212 by mail and 454 early in-person votes, out of 17,613 registered voters across 23 precincts.
“I am pleased, it was a close race so I am humbled and appreciative of all the support from my community," said Eick. "I want to thank Commissioner Leggett for a hard fought, respectable campaign. I am excited to see and learn how to best move our community forward while preserving our values. Your prayers are appreciated.”
Eick spent 16 years working at Carroll Electric Cooperative, where he also served two terms as a Harrison Township trustee. In 1996, he founded Eick Electric and Lighting LLC, later selling the business in 2021. He and his wife, Shelly, will mark their 44th wedding anniversary in May and have two grown children and six grandchildren. Eick also spent two years serving as a volunteer missionary in Honduras.
